I had the exact same thing. I tried a few episodes, didn't like the art and the story didn't grab me. I'm also not a fan of the huge, ongoing series after Bleach was such a letdown. My friend spent ages explaining how the beginning is slow, but it all ties together, the author has this great master plan, and by episode 50 it gets really, really good.

I'm sorry, but if I have to sit through 20+ hours of something before it STARTS to get good, that's a very hard no. I have far better things to do with my time.
