honestly most m/m is just taking the same goddamn dynamic and slapping onto the Hot New dudes of the month, instead of actually taking the individual characters into account.

it's so boring.

TBH this happening with slash all the time is why I think OP is right. When fandom would rather OOC cookie cutter the New Hot Guys then pay attention to the female characters, something's up.

that is a very good point. i wasn't denying that fandom has issues wrt ladies, more that the 'same dynamic slapped onto every ship' thing isn't unique to f/f sadly. it probably happens with m/f too but i read very little of that so i can't say.
