Of course there are people like that, it was based loosely of the Manson Murders, which is why it's a "true story". But it's not like we didn't know that before the movie came out [that there are people "like that"], and it's not like it's OMG the first to do such a thing.

Wow, needlessly hostile tone, much? o.O (or maybe it's just that fun feature of the internets that disables the observance of emotions; I'unno.)

I've never heard that it was based off theh Manson murders; I'd heard that it was based off of the Cabin 28 Keddie murders.

It seems like you're saying that just because it's already known that there are people with that mindset, and that it's not the first movie to portray this, that it's no longer scary and is now banal...?

Definatley the disability of emotions! I didn't mean to come of sounding harsh or anything >W<
It was loosely based of the manson murders~ Indeed, that was the creators inspiration.

No, what I was saying that; I didn't really see how it was scary, in all honesty. There was nothing truly original or frightening about it. [frights= soo predictable, with none existent tension]. And I'm not exactly rock solid with horror/thrillers.

Then again, it's up to different people to perceive what they think is scary, I think mostly, I am just confused as to why the critics over here saw it as "the best horror of the year" etc;;

Again, sorry if I came of sounding blunt/hostile~ :D

Ahaha, okay. xD I've had some random angry!encounters with people on FS before, aheh, so I'm a smidge jumpy now. xD Hope I didn't sound too bitchy. *gives cookie and a hug*

I didn't think it was the *best* horror, but I found it pretty scary myself. xD Which surprised me, since horror movie's usually don't affect me. I'm not sure what about it scared me so much, to be honest- I tend to get caught up emotionally in movies and such, so maybe that had something to do with it. o.O

Yeah~~ Well, my friend I was watching it with was pretty scared too, as she hates the idea of somebody being in her house. I guess it's just one of those things that I don't personally find scary 8DD;;
if it scared you then I guess it did do it's job~~
