136. I can assure you that secret doesn't represent the mindset of most of us. While we don't want kids, we're not in support of killing people for having then, abusing them, or anything at all like that. Many of us even enjoy working with them, work in teaching positions, enjoy babysitting, and love to smother nieces, nephews, cousins, friends' kids, etc. with hugs and snuggles.

As a CF member myself, I'm pretty appalled by that secret.

By this point, I think the term "child-free" has been completely coopted by the douches, sad to say.

This seriously fucking bothers me. I mean my god, I thought I finally had something to call myself so that people might bugger out of my sex life and now it has a negative connotation (not that I didn't know this before -- I just wanted to say something so that we don't all look like gigantic dicks who think it's COOL and AWESOME when pregnant women get shot)...

I know what you mean, I completely sympathize with you, and 99% of the people out there that choose not to have children aren't like the CF crazies, but frankly, you (well, I, hooray for the english general pronoun) hear the word 'child-free', and you think of people going to matinees of children's movies and complaining that there were crotch-droppings present, or, like the OP, liking that a pregnant woman got shot. I wish those people didn't exist, or failing that, that there was an alternate term to use, but, eh, what can you do?

Well, after I made that comment I realized that there are probably plenty of sane people in the childfree community, but from my experience there have been so many crazy ones that it seems like they've almost co-opted the name, unfortunately.
