Wondering if I will be temporarily laid off at the end of the week for a month. :( They are trying to get us laptops so we can work from home. If that doesn't work, layoffs are next.

Last night my boss called me and said that our store was going to be closed for 3 weeks, so I'm on day 1 of quarantine. It's a little surreal, but I'm lucky to be getting a paycheck still.

Trying to figure out what’s going on with my work. First they told us all schools were closed until April, but we still had to report to our site. Then they told us that non-essential employees had to stay home, but to be on call. Now they’re saying everybody has to stay home and that school won’t resume until May. They haven’t gotten back to anybody on how we’re getting paid though.

I was over my regular cold so went to the office today...and got sent home by 10am. I’m working from home from now on and the visitor attraction I work for is temporarily closed now too.

I’m a little worried about my job in the long term. The Scottish tourist/heritage sector is about to take a massive hit. I also work with schools and they’re probably going to close after Friday.

Being quarantined, cleaning my bathroom since I'm stuck here and might as well do something useful, watching too much TV, being amazed that I'm actually glad I'm on disability since they're unlikely to fuck with that, being worried about all the people who are losing work because a lot of jobs simply can't be done online from home, worrying about going nuts because I live alone, wanting to drink.

It’s my first day of being off work for three weeks (paid, though, thanks, union!) and I have a sore throat and itchy eyes. No fever or anything else, so I’m desperately hoping it’s allergies, because I had to take a sick hen to the vet, and I have to go get her, or her body, depending on whether the vet finds something fixable when she opens her up. X-rays showed nothing and ultrasound showed fluid buildup, which might be a liver thing or cancer. Fluid didn’t have bacteria or elevated white blood cells. She’s less than three years old, or I would’ve just had her put down.

I also went to get groceries just in case I am stuck at home for two weeks. Been washing my hands like a raccoon in a human suit. Really hope I’m not sick, because some of my coworkers are high risk, and a couple have mothers fighting cancer. Both locations where I worked the last few days had someone call out sick.

Really glad my uncle didn’t come visit and I’m glad I haven’t seen my aunt and other uncle for three weeks. The number of reported cases where I am was 47 as of Sunday, probably higher now, and both uncles and my aunt are in their 70s.

I’m soaking beans to make black bean veggie soup. I have fresh masa so maybe I’ll make tamales or gorditas or something to go with. At least I have time to cook and garden.

I have to go out to a GOVERNMENT MANDATED appointment with my DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT AGENCY!!!! What the ACTUAL FUCK is wrong with my government? Why? Fucking WHY?
Also I'm obese so going on a ventilator would be a real shit time for me, and I run errands for an elderly relative with a fragile immune system, so I'm freaking out just a wee little tiny bit :D :D :D D:

Well, early this morning I found a sign endorsing a conservative candidate for judgeship (complete with a Jesus fish symbol) on my front porch. Mom told me that she'd told the guy we weren't interested, but he insisted on leaving it anyway and said that if we really didn't want it we could leave it out by the woods and he'd come pick it up later. So that's what I did, after I affixed two post-its on it, one saying "NO." and the other saying "P.S. I'm donating to Planned Parenthood in your name." with a little smiley face at the bottom. Why? Because I'm a petty, spiteful little bitch, and fuck that guy.

Then I went to the polls at 7:00 AM and voted for Bernie Sanders. I decided to go early to beat the rush because I'm immunocompromised and it's easier to practice social distancing when there are only a handful of people around. Also I didn't sleep at all last night because of pain, so I figured it'd be better to just go early and get it over with rather than trying to go back to bed and hoping I'd be up for going out later on, if I got up in time at all. So once I got home, I took my pain meds and a muscle relaxer, rubbed some Voltaren gel on the problem areas and then collapsed into bed.

Went to work like normal. *shrugs* We'll all be working from home starting next week but it takes time for IT to get all of us set up to do that. Everyone who can work at home is already working at home, so the office is half-empty.

It's a little creepy but what can you do? I can't afford to NOT work.

Dentist appointment this morning. Turned out my tooth was really bad and my dentist doesn't handle that type of root canal anymore. So I'll be going to another dentist at 7:15 tomorrow morning for a root canal. And I'll go back to my dentist for the crown, only they are closed for Corona so I won't get the crown for several weeks.

Did a bunch of stuff on Flightrising. Preparing to maybe start a hatchery at some point, so I cleared some dragons out, got a couple new ones, sorted some, and the figured out which pairs I'd include in the hatchery so I can go about buying breeding cards when I get the chance.

Then I took a really long nap. Was tired on account of little sleep last night or lately and the painkiller I took. This tooth has been so painful honestly. I thought it was my jaw but turns out was probably this tooth. Have been sleeping with a heating pad most nights.

Went dentists. Have had a few months to wait for everything to heal up since last time so now looking at restorative work and might actually be able to smile without covering my mouth in a couple months, so excited for that.

I'm on a week off from work and I believe my workplace will be classed as a "non-essential" so not sure if I'll still have a job come Monday. My birthday is on Saturday and don't really feel like celebrating because there's this huge looming sense of dread right now. Everything's moving so quick and feels so uncertain.

Have you ever come across some drama just *slightly* too late, after the thing that caused the original blowup has already been deleted? And you end up trying to mentally reconstruct the original post just for your own satisfaction? Because that's what I'm doing.
Apparently Vanessa Hudgens posted a video to Twitter that could be summarised as "Why do we have to self-isolate, it's not like it matters if all the old people die anyway", deleted some little time later, and it's just been a little tiny apocalypse in her Twitter since, lol.

I'm lucky because my job has offered teleworking one day a week as a benefit, so my company was pretty set up to transition to full time telework. We're nonprofit, so I am a little scared over how much money we're losing because of program cancellations. They tried to reassure us that they have reserve money, but still. Small nonprofit work can be so volatile.

I like teleworking, and it's nice to be at home. But to make things a little more exciting, I'm fostering a rescue cat from tomorrow. Hopefully that gives my kitten someone to play with so he's not jumping in front of the camera when I'm in teleconferences. lol

Seriously, fuck today. I have a sore throat but I have to go out anyway because I have to pick up my dead chicken from the vet, who was crying when she called to say it was cancer. My hen’s not even three yet, and I’m gonna spend the rest of the daylight digging a hole to bury her. And I still have to go get acetaminophen and stuff from the store afterwards.

I really hope I’m not sick on top of everything else. I don’t want anyone else to get sick because of me, and I was born way early so I’m at high risk for pneumonia and shit.

Oh no, I'm so, so sorry about your chicken. All the internet hugs for you. I'm sure she was well loved and lived a good, happy life with you for her three years. I hope you are able to mourn her and remember all the good times you had with her.

I hope you aren't sick too. The oak pollen has been high, so maybe it is that? Either way, I really hope you feel better both physically and mentally.
