I don't. In fact, I write (though I wouldn't really call myself "a writer" since it's only a hobby).

You can go ahead and call me a hypocrite now, since I doubt anything I say would convince you otherwise.

From what I've read in several other comments, it seems more than you're generalizing the immature behaviour of specific role-players to be the standard for the entire community. However, that's just not true. For every "rp is srs bsns"-type attention whore who only cares about how popular their characters are and often confuse role-play relationships with real life ones, there are many others who simply enjoy it for what it is: pure fun, and a potentially great writing exercise for people who want to build their characterization skills. I'd even go as far to say that the latter vastly overwhelms the former. The childish ones are just a loud and annoying minority. So, really, it's incredibly stupid to take out your anger from the behaviour of certain people within the community on the practice itself. All role-playing is, is interactive-writing (or fanfiction writing, if it's fandom-based).
