So according to you, because I have always looked much younger than I am, it wouldn't have been okay for me to have sex until I was like 30? Good to know!

(At 44 people think I'm 30. I like this. At 24 people were telling me that minors weren't supposed to be in the shopping mall during school hours and I had to pull out my ID. This was a lot less cool.)

You are a real person, and I'm assuming you don't crouch on the ground playing with toys while wearing hugely over-sized clothes.

Near looks like 10 year old and also acts like a child (a super-intelligent child, but a child nonetheless). Sexual fiction and images of him often play on that aspect of his character.

I suppose you can equate the erotisized version of him with a girl wearing a baby-doll dress sucking her thumb (something you sometimes see in porn), but both are about fetishizing the underage through someone of legal age. That's perfectly fine and okay for some people, but I think people should ackowledge it rather than pretending a lot of the fans see him as a fully mature and sexual adult.

...except it's still not the thing you say it is.

It's really not that difficult to say, "Blatant Near fappery makes me uncomfortable because he looks like a child which in turn makes me wonder about some of the people attracted to that."

Whereas the pedophile accusations dumb the whole thing down into, "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW. I hate this character so I'm going to insult those who like him!" when the being-uncomfortable-with-it actually is a pretty substantial reasoning in itself.

But what if it tastes like apples? Or smells like ham? Despite the whole toy thing, Near doesn't really act like a child, and he certainly mentally isn't like one. So, just because he looks like a child doesn't mean he comes off as one to the people who've actually read the manga/watched the anime and are fans of the character.

By the way, at 12, people thought I was 18. At 20, people thought I was 14. I guess I should've dated when I was 12 and stopped before 20. No telling what sorts of pedophiles I'd attract now, eh?

I'm a big fan of Near, but I still see his childish aspect, and I still think people that write/draw porn of him are creepy to say the least.
