I can see it both ways. Many writers think their work is more original than it actually is, and that's sad. But lots of people like to compare things and they mean it to be complimentary but sometimes it's not...? Or at least, don't automatically assume that because you think X is like Y that the creator is going to be thrilled by the comparison.

Frankly, if I like something I try to comment with what I liked about it, without making comparisons.
