It's clearly the best. It's also my personal favorite, but taste is taste.

I used to covet that alarm clock!

(Anonymous) 2020-03-21 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never seen that clock but now I covet it... it would look great next to my Voyager novels!

I'm having to get rid of my Trek novels, including my Voyager ones (We're downsizing, and I'm only supposed to keep 3-4 boxes worth or so), and it made me so sad to put them in the donate boxes.

I have, like, 3 shelves of Star Trek novels stacked 2 rows deep. They're my comfort read and I don't want to get rid of them, so I understand your sadness. (But, just so you know, there is a continuously updating torrent of scanned ST novels out there that you can find if you still want to read them...)

I question whether there is such a thing as "objective best" when it comes to media. Or at least I think it is much more subjective than this and that picking the "objective best' Trek series possible. That being said, my personal favorite is DS9 followed by Voyager and then TNG.

I have the original series version of that alarm clock. XD

Aww I quite like Voyager even though a lot of ST fans apparently hate it. DS9 and VOY (along with Stargate SG-1) were things I watched with my dad in the evenings when I'd finished my homework and he got home from work. So there's a lot of nice memories there. And I watched TNG with him when I was even younger as it used to be shown on BBC2. Then on Sundays we'd watch the UK Gold Doctor Who omnibus together.

I've only watch TNG and Voyager, and Voyager is absolutely my favourite even though I'll readily accept that TNG is better.

I love DS9 so much. The only thing that sucks is that whenever new merch is released, it always has Quark's stupid face on it.
As much as I would love to have anything with Bashir or Garak, considering Sisko is the main god damn character and captain you would think that there would be more stuff with him.

(This is mostly me getting mad about the fairly recent forbbiden planet stuff - although on the upside I got a neat Sherlock!Data t-shirt instead).

(Anonymous) 2020-03-21 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That is exactly how I feel, except that TNG is my favorite, probably because it was the first "Star Trek" show that I could watch 'live' (it premiered when I was 9...I am old).

(Anonymous) 2020-03-22 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
You're not old! Patrick Stewart is old, but you're not. I also saw TNG when it aired..

I agree with you, wholeheartedly, about both.

Voyager was a bit of a mess, but it somehow worked and I love it. Deep Space Nine had generally better, more cohesive, plots than the rest; more, and often better, character development (character development that both made sense and persisted); and, I think, slightly better production values.

Re: I agree with you, wholeheartedly, about both.

+1 - I think there are individual episodes of TNG that are better than DS9, but as an entire show, DS9 is clearly the most coherent.

Thanks to this secret as well as my dad and I watching Star Trek: Generations together this afternoon, I'm in a Trek mood. Time for a rewatch I think. TNG, DS9, then Voy maybe? We'll see what I feel like. I really need a Trek icon.

Voyager will always be my number one Trek love. ♥

Anon, are you me?? I feel the exact same way! I think DS9 is the best, but Voyager is my favorite. (And actor JG Hertzler was an absolute asshole to me at a convention last year, and he's in enough episodes that I haven't wanted to watch DS9 for a while.)

(Anonymous) 2020-03-22 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh, all the Klingon eps bar one are worth skipping; still plenty of meat.

(Anonymous) 2020-03-23 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the sad thing is that I really like(d) the Klingon episodes. :(
