Beekeeping organizations exist here, too. But I doubt anyone would come out for this one because a) lockdown and b) they’re most likely africanized (aka killer) bees. The last time this happened was on Easter Sunday and no one would come out then either.

It costs about $2,000 to get them removed from inside a wall, which is why I’ve given up on getting the hive in my house taken away. My mom used to pay someone to come remove the hive every year or so, but a different swarm would always move in. Since she passed away and I inherited her house, I haven’t had the money to get them removed. So I have a room where I keep my bike and some miscellaneous stuff but don’t otherwise use because the walls buzz.

... I should’ve lied to that guy and said I was going inside and he would risk being stung to death if he stuck around.

I've had wall bees too. Lmao. Get it done again when you can and get a couple of cans of expanding foam from the hardware store to fill all the gaps so they can't get back in. Cheap and it works. I had rats too and reinforced some places with steel wool so they didn't chew through that and leave more holes for the bees.

The bees went right through the expanding foam. I do have rats, since I keep chickens and have fruit trees, but they at least were stopped by the hardware cloth under the foam. The bees weren’t. At some point hopefully I’ll have enough money saved to just have the room torn down (it’s part of a not to code garage conversion so it wouldn’t be a huge loss) and maybe have the bees transferred to hive boxes. In the meantime, they pollinate my fruit.

AYRT—dunno, but they’ve chewed through walls before to get in because each successive hive that was removed apparently soaked the room in “this place is fucking awesome!” pheromones. (Insert stale free real estate meme here)
