Yes. Like, nice at all costs is not a good thing and kind of does make you an asshole. The whole "you used the wrong tone" when everything about the statement was true. Or you can't talk about the sexism or racism because the community's image might be ruined. Or you can't mention anything bad in the family or disagree in front of others because that looks bad (this latter one is my parents, though TBH they'd yell at me in public for making a scene in public when I was a kid).
