I'm soon to be 30, and I am considering putting on Steven Universe as a background show while I work. How, er, childish is it? As in, how well does it hold up to an adult viewer? I had a hard time getting through season 1 of Avatar, and only got through season 1-3 of She-Ra out of desperation for something to watch, but Avatar 2-3, The Legend of Korra and She-Ra season 4 I enjoyed listening to.

Hm...if you had trouble with season 1 of Avatar, you'll definitely struggle with SU, especially the first season. It's pretty on the childish side, BUT everything is laid out really far ahead of time, with lots of clues and pieces to pick up as you go that gradually become more and more important.

I'd say it starts getting more serious about halfway through the first season ("Mirror Gem"/"Ocean Gem") with the season 1 finale really starting to set the tone for the rest of the series.

For the record, I'm 30 now, and have thoroughly enjoyed most of it. There's a few episodes at the beginning of season 1 (like "Catfingers" or "Frybo") that you can honestly just...skip. You'll miss tidbits but nothing crucial that isn't brought up later. Also feel free to skip anything centering around Ronaldo. Nothing comes of him.

I'm 30 as Welland I love it. It's very pretty and the songs are nice.

I use several of the songs to help me calm down when I'm stressed. They're really lovely.

I've really enjoyed it, even the more simple first season.

SU music wise is perfect. I really adore the song "It's Over, Isn't It".
Please try it out. Superficially, it's for younger people aged 8 to 12 and up, but adults can get a lot out of it, too.
Give it a whirl and see if you like it.
