In general, Internet cult leaders get older and keep doing the same thing, while Internet cult followers age out and are replaced by the next generation. You see the same thing with soulbonders.

Antis, in particular, are a big problem in English speaking fandoms right now. Fandoms that don't have a large amount of English speakers, like Japanese and Russian fandoms, and therefore few Americans, don't have an issue with antis.

There's a whole lot of reasons for why this is, but it's extremely valid for someone to feel uncomfortable around Americans in fandom 24 and under right now. Antis spew a whole lot of racism, too, see: "freaks of color", re: Japanese fan artists getting upset with English speakers attacking them over incest art.
