I've pointed this out occasionally, and got told that we don't know what the character's kinks are, so its perfectly OK. To which I can only think, "No, we don't, which is why it feels odd". Even odder is if the other character/s share that particular kink. Statistically it can be pretty difficult to buy into, let alone character-wise.

I read fanfic for the characters, judge me.

I especially feel this for non-human characters for some reason, especially if there's a different lifespan involved. I just have a hard time believing ageless or immortal beings would be into what very much feels like an Earth kink.
