I'm a life-long Star Trek fan and so is my husband and we've quite liked it with some reservations. We're coming at it from the POV that no two Star Treks are the same though.

Also when I read that Patrick Stewart said he had refused to do it unless Picard was challenged, something clicked and made sense. I think he didn't want everyone to be in awe of Picard doing everything he wanted. I guess as an actor that's not especially interesting.
