I have to agree that most are either over the top or really stereotypical/tropey.

Though I have/am enjoying the *hell* out of Stumptown. But then, I don't think Dex is super-typical, though who knows - I don't watch a lot of those kinds of shows.

Same! I think Dex is 100% based on the (male) stereotype and then the show is very interested in how that doesn't really hold up.
