There are quite a few ships I get turned off of because the shippers insist it was canon when it wasn't (or before it was). Nothing will make me go from mild disinterest to active dislike faster than someone insisting their version is right and other versions are wrong. This is fandom we are talking about. It is all personal opinion. There is no right or wrong about it as long as you aren't telling others what to do.

Honestly, who cares if something is or isn't canon anyway? Why does canon matter?
