I tend to like romance as a side plot in fantasy, which is most of what I read.

T. Kingfisher’s The Twisted Ones is a horror novel with no romance, but also I’m surprised that there’s that many horror novels with romance plots/subplots. Nine Goblins is a fantasy novella by the same author, also no romance. The Temeraire books by Naomi Novik have only a few mentions of romance spread over several books, it’s definitely not a major focus. Lois McMaster Bujold’s first two Penric novellas, are romance-free.

I don’t remember if Katherine Addison’s The Goblin Emperor had any romance elements; it’s been awhile since I read it and I don’t think so. Have you tried asking FS for recs?
