Epic Fantasy

[personal profile] philstar22 2020-03-31 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Looking for new epic fantasy to read. The kind where a hero/heroine or some heroes have to save the world. Don't care beyond that. Just something grand and epic involving world saving.

Have you read the Nightrunner series? I haven't read the whole series yet, but at least the first few books are really good.

M/M books

Preferably ones that have a plot and aren't just porn.

(Not criticizing those, I've just read plenty already and want something different!)

Cat Sebastian's books are pretty good. Try "The Soldier's Scoundrel" and see how you like it.

If you don't mind a fantranslation and characters having 2-3 names each, Mo Dao Zu Shi/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation might be interesting? It's a Chinese BL webnovel that has a fairly solid plot (though it has some smut at the very end but that part isn't too well written but can be ignored).

Try Manifold Press - lots of well-written plotty books, often with a historical setting. They've even had a book shortlisted by the Historical Novel Society. f/f too. https://manifoldpress.co.uk/

Check out C.B. Lewis’s stuff, I think her series is called Time Waits, there’s five books out.

Diana Gabaldon's Lord John Grey series is primarily historical mystery, but the main character has regular romances with other men. It's far better done than her Outlander series, IMO.
