I largely agree with your assessment of what happened, but largely disagree with your verdict on Taylor. That said, this is an agree-to-disagree situation for me. What I'm really here to find out is:

Nope. We're probably just playing off the same ridiculously common aphorism, bb. I really hope that's not a line in a song of hers tho because I'm not a fan of her songwriting and that would be a prime example of why, and I just want her to be better than this ugh.

Yes, she uses "You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes" in her song Miss Americana And The Heartbreak Prince. It's a good song. Lover had a lot of solid tracks on it, not that you'd know anything about it.

Also, wow at you finding the phrase apt enough to use, then turning around and sneering at her for...what? Agreeing with you? That's so insufferable I almost can't even fathom it.

no, bb, I'm saying that using a ridiculously common aphorism wholesale and sincerely in a song is typical of her songwriting and why I don't like it. she's smart enough to be clever (I mean there are songs where its actually good!!) and yet her construction is usually just unsophisticated. it's so weird that she can have do more subtle things with tropey lyrics like with blank space or like style and have a fairly deft hand like with new romantics and then everything else is just below the standard of interesting lyrically to me. im not sure why you would think that my use in a comment in a forum and hers in a song is the same. I'm not trying for poetry, lmao.

and if lover is typical of her other albums, its unrefined lyrics over good production and an extremely catchy melody....why would i want to know anything about it? i tried that with reputation, and her singles on lover, so no thanks i can get that melody and production from people with good lyrics.
