(Anonymous) 2020-04-02 12:36 am (UTC)(link)I don't come across that many graphic sex scenes anymore (all the fandoms I'm into lately are really obscure/small and don't have fic, so I haven't even read fic in a long time, and published books never seem to have sex scenes outside of romance, which I don't read) but when I do, it never really crosses my mind that hey, there might be people who masturbate to this. I've even watched actual porn the same way I would watch the news or something, like "oh, okay, there are people having sex" and it still didn't even occur to me that it's something that people would masturbate to.
I don't even know if what I'm saying is making any sense, but yeah...it's interesting how differently people see things.
OP
(Anonymous) 2020-04-02 02:18 am (UTC)(link)I've only come across a few storylines where the smut was actually just as important to the characterization as the rest of the fic. It might also have to do with me reading smut filled fic since I was a kid so most of it comes off as more of the same for the most part. The only times I've willingly watched porn was basically the same result as yours. I really just couldn't be interested.
This actually makes a lot of sense! I forget sometimes that even the most typical of things can be interpreted so differently by different people, it's always fascinating to rediscover that!
