I'm still afraid the remake is going to remove Hojo's attempt to breed Aeris with Red XIII.

Nerf Tifa's Tits, fine. Add in new enemies and "Sequel" elements for no gods damned reason, whatever. Make it so that AVALANCHE are no-longer terrorists, and it's actually SHINRA that do the bombing? THE FU-No, no that's fine too.

the og game did sorta hint that avalanche weren't entirely responsible for the bombing (quoth jessie: "think it was all because of my bomb? but all I really did was just make it like the computer told me. oh no! i must've made a miscalculation somewhere.")

and avalanche are still terrorists! they still blow up the reactor! just not quite so violently, and it's confirmed it's shinra who cause the damage as a false flag, but...

i have the remake already (arrived today :) ) - i haven't got far enough through to find out exactly what happens with red xiii yet

I dunno. It still sounds like they're trying to shift responsibility off out morally ambiguous heros to make them seem less morally ambiguous. Feels like a real "Han Shot Second" kinda thing.

Either way, I'mma give them 6 months to hear what all you nice people think about the game before I decide if I'm in or not, so keep us updated.

ngl that part of the demo really irritated me. Like, AVALANCHE are still terrorists, they're just even MORE incompetent than they know AND ShinRa is... cool with blowing up their own reactors? What? At least dropping the plate had the point of wiping out AVALANCHE but blowing up their own reactor to paint AVALANCHE as evil is just stupid.

IDEK. I do feel like it's part of the attempt to make the heroes be less ~bad~ and I'm not here for it. It just makes them look like incredibly stupid terrorists instead of actually having some sort of skill at what they're doing.

Also, Cloud and the gang SUCCESSFULLY blowing up a plant with a huge bomb would not work in the post-9/11 world. I got the impression the small bomb was supposed to disable the reactor instead of blow it up.

i... like that they're a bunch of amateurs? messing with things they don't understand (they even have to hire cloud so they've got somebody at least partially competent) and getting over their heads with political machinations way beyond their own control

and as other anon said, it's pr - shinra are a bunch of corrupt bastards. uniting the people by giving them a common enemy (manufactured or otherwise) has been political strategy since... well, probably the dawn of politics
