At 2.53 seconds, two boxes come up, both for other vids, right across the screen. They have no Xs to close them. The vid is still running behind them. They do have a white border but there's no arrow or X that I can see.

I have AdBlockPlus, which is obviously not making them stop.

Got on my computer so I can toggle my adblocker on and off and those are definitely just notations added by the uploader, lol.

I don't remember what adblocker I use on my tablet, but the first thing I would do is update my filters in my adblock. Maybe you accidentally turned auto-updating off? If filters aren't updated regularly, new ads can come through. Second suggestion is to just get a better adblocker. :p

For computer browser, my go-to is uBlock Origin. Even when the default lists aren't sufficient to block what I want to, their userbase is pretty good at filling in the blanks and creating and updating lists. The longest YouTube ads appear for are like, a day? And then someone updates something and they're gone again.

I don't *think* i've turned anything off, but who knows.

The really frustrating thing is that those kinds of ads weren't always there, they just started appearing (for me) a few months ago.

Yeahhh that's what happens when adblockers either aren't updated or can't keep up with new ads being implemented. But hey, hopefully this helps you get rid of them this time, and if you encounter it again even if it's not fixed at least you have an idea why!

And yes - at least i know. I updated all my AdBlock filters *and* downloaded UBlock, but I didn't see anywhere to toggle on an 'update automatically' on AdBlock, so I'll be checking on that more often to make sure they're updating.

Late here but just wanted to chime in and say if you have UBlock Origin (and make sure it's UBlock Origin, not just regular UBlock), then you don't need AdBlock too. UBlock Origin updates way more frequently, blocks a lot more stuff, and is just better overall. Having AdBlock too will just slow your browser down.

Hmmm. I'm trying to look into it for you. I know exactly what you're talking about, and I'm trying to find a video that does it so that I can test whether it works if I find a potential fix, and none of the videos I'm pulling up are doing it.

Can you link one that does it for you so I can check it out?

Also, what browser are you using, and what other addons do you have?

Just to be completely clear what you're talking about, it's the videos that pop up at 20:16 in this video, right? Sometimes it's at the very end.

I have something for you to try. Click on the UBlock Origin icon, and when the window pops up, click on the little icon that looks like a sound mixer...if you hover over it it should say "open the dashboard". On the page that it brings up, if it's not already selected, click "filter lists" at the top. Click on all the plus signs to expand all the different categories, and click the box in each one. The top one says "my filters", then "built-in", "ads", "privacy", etc.--you want to check all the boxes under each one. Ignore the ones under "regions, languages" at the end (unless you're in a country other than the US, but I don't think you are?)

Once you've checked all the boxes, click the "apply changes" button in the top right, and then the "update now" button near the top left if it's yellow (there's a good chance it won't be if you have auto updating enabled, but you might catch if briefly in between it updating itself). If it's grayed out you're good.

Now refresh a video you have that issue with and see if it still does it.

I use Firefox, but it should work in Chrome too. UBO doesn't enable all the filter lists by default, but if you turn all of them on it should hopefully fix your problem.

I put a vid link in my initial comment - the Duran Duran 'Wild Boys Official' vid. They pop up at about 2.53 or something? Right at the end.

I'm on Firefox, the latest version, and i have UBlock Origin (heh, just now, used to have AdBlockPlus), and....um...XKitt and Avast, that's it.

After doing the UBlock (someone in comments recommended it), they still popped up. They also come up on Chrome (same computer), which has AdBlockPlus.

I swear it didn't used to happen, but maybe it's a new YouTube thing, who knows! Thanks!

Not sure if you saw it or not but the comment right above yours was me also, I think it might fix your issue. The other comment is more detailed, but basically just go into the dashboard in UBlock Origin and enable all of the different filter lists (some of them are not enabled by default) and see if that works.

And yes - same little boxes there as on other vids, totally obscuring some of the content. No big deal on some, really irritating on others.

Hmm. For me, on both Firefox and Chrome, if I turn off UBlock Origin, the boxes are there...turn it back on with all the lists enabled, they're gone.

I did find a suggestion you can maybe try.

Go into the UBO dashboard, click on My Filters, copy and paste the lines below into the box, click Apply Changes, refresh the video and see if it does anything?
