It's not explicitly queer. It's canon that the two characters love each other very much. It's not canon that it's in a romantic/sexual way and I feel like trying to pare it down to whether their love is romantic and/or sexual does a disservice to the nature of their relationship in general.

They are, without a doubt, each other's Most Important People. Does it really matter whether or not they want to bone?

Nah, I don't even care about that. I just wanted to avoid a "spending the entire show showing how much they love each other and clearly will choose each other over anyone else, but we have to shoehorn in women as love interests to prove that they're obviously not GAY or anything" type thing, and it sounds like that doesn't happen.
