They'll find a child actor who can act or has a fair amount of recognition and cast them in a ton of things, whether they have the range for them or not. I feel like Abigail Breslin was in a ton of things after Little Miss Sunshine, to be fair, though, she was pretty good in most of the thins I saw. Dakota Fanning is another one.

It looks like mainly video game voice work and television guest spots - in 2019: The Kominsky Method (Netflix), The Boys (Amazon Prime Video), Teachers, and Future Man (Hulu), plus Kingdom Hearts III (Video Game) and a role in Zac Efron's Ted Bundy biopic, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Yes. In the 90s, every boy was Jonathan Taylor Thomas or Macaulay Culkin and every girl was Christina Ricci or Mara Wilson.
