There's always a moment with a pairing where it clicks for you. 'Mind of Evil', back with the Third Doctor, did it for me for this one. When the villain is frantically checking for pulse and heartbeat after his torture machine may have accidentally gone too far, there's a bit of something there. Granted, he needed the Doctor to be able to withstand the machine, because if the Doctor couldn't then likely he couldn't either for long, but still. The worried search for a heartbeat and the frantic slapping at his cheeks to wake him back up were a thing ...
