Seems harsh. It's an acronym anyway. Nobody pronounces AIDS "ay-ids." Bad example, maybe--I get the first syllable thing--but an IQ of 80? That's borderline mental retardation. The internet is not srs biz.

I could swear I read something on the history of the word some years ago. ("yaoi", not "AIDS")

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it comes from "yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi", which is something like "no climax, no point, no meaning" in english.

All the bold letters stand on their own as japanese symbols, thus making it easy to condense that all into one word of its own, "YA-O-I".
