It is still a far cry and totally not possible. And he also was not viewed as a good leader, and whatever.

So yeah, I do find Lelouch's plan to be a bit ridiculous.

Well, when you can unswervingly bend people to your will forever with your ~*magic eye powerz*~, I do think some leeway should be given as to what is believable and what is not.

And as for not being viewed as a good leader, um...that was the point. As Emperor, he set himself up to be the villain and turned the world's hatred upon him. He didn't necessarily lead the world into acting upon his master plan as much as play and trick them into doing it.

If you look at what he did with the Black Knights, he was seen as a good leader--only a role that he could pull off. Not Ougi, not Toudoh, not Diethard--only Zero. Sure, his leadership faltered a bit after Shirley died, but that's pretty understandable.

And that is the idea that I find wholly ridiculous, when has a leader that everyone hated lead to an even temporary peace. So yeah I do find the unifying the world against you to be a bit off, even with the magic eye powers thing.

Well, (I hate to bring real life examples into lol anime, but...) when Hitler was defeated, the world rejoiced. Sure, that fell apart quickly, but the whole nascent Cold War dealio was another issue altogether.

More recently, in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, the world's sympathies focused itself on the US, and (in large part) the world's scorn was cast toward al Qaeda. What actually happened worked out quite differently from what could have happened, but the point was that the world was suddenly far more amenable towards setting aside many differences and working towards a common purpose--namely, stamping out terrorism.

But I agree that it would still be inordinately hard to pull off the complex diplomatic dance that is required to bring peace and accord. However, that's what Schneizel is for, right? He set it up so that a sympathetic, unstained face (Nunnally) is the titular head of the movement for renewal, backed by justice incarnate and the de facto leader of the resistance (Zero), and the master diplomat/negotiator (Schneizel). At least supposedly, a lot of national boundaries were supposed to have been broken with the formation of the UFN, leading to just UFN vs. Britannia. And at the end, both sides' leadership was in the know or at least acting in accordance with each other. Those were conditions as ideal as he could have made it.

The world rejoiced yes? Made everyone stay unified for even a sufficient amount of time? No. Same with Al Qaeda and Bin Laden, the good spirit towards the US did not last that long. Which is why I don't think that kind of plan is worth it and is pretty stupid, because it is a superficial plan that doesn't really address real problems. I don't know I just found the whole thing to be stupid.

It wouldn't work for the same reason that Light's plan of killing all the criminals wouldn't work and is just as stupid.

But this is anime where ridiculous ideas somehow work against logic.
