The thing that really gets me about so-called activists in fandom is that more often than not, those kinds of people will go out the way to fight for a fictional character's 'justice' - but in the case of actual real life shit going on, same said activists won't even lift a pinky finger to reblog a post for awareness about something like Flint water crisis or anything actually serious.

Or, in days gone by, volunteer, get out on the streets, get in touch with their local councillors, or even *shudder* stand for office.

I've had someone expend enough energy to power a small town dissecting my choice of fandom in an exchange, and for what? I defaulted on the exchange and am willing to bet good money that I've been more proactive irl than said person.
