I'm...not really sure that the documentary shows Joe Exotic in a terribly favorable light,though.

Really? His story ends with him being shown very sympathetically. 'Oh look, the poor good ol' boy is crying about how he treated those chimps. He just got in over his head. :('

I have a different read on that. To me, it comes off as "look at this idiot who's bemoaning his rightfully deserved prison sentence that he 100% earned with his stupidity and hunger for fame". The chimps part coming after all the shit he did feels like an obvious finger pointing that he's a hypocrite.

They definitely gave him a rehab job in the final moments. 'He started with such good intentions and prison has made him realize how terrible the things he did were'

And they spent an entire episode talking to everyone who disliked Carole rehashing every possible rumor about her ex husband but spent like two minutes of how Joe used meth to control his husbands, barely touched on how he torched alligators, shot tigers, etc.

Also, they cut out his racism and such because it would make him look worse.
