Keeping hydrated is key to not getting a hangover, alcohol drains you like a sieve and the best thing is to drink water as your drinking. People normally only have a glass before they go to bed, but while it helps, it's not gonna be enough most of the time. I usually stick to wine since it doesn't leave me feeling too worse for wear the next day. I tend to be a pretty good drunk, I don't think I've ever been over the top smashed, but at the same time I have a high tolerance as well so I usually don't bother wasting a whole box of wine in order to get there;;

My best hangover tip is /not/ to drink coffee after you've been drinking. The stimulants and its low level of hydration just makes everything worse. Movie cure be damned!

I try to drink at least the same amount of water as wine (and more if I'm drinking harder stuff).

That's definitely the best way to prevent a hangover, I always forget it myself but it's the easiest and most efficient cure. It'll dilute the alcohol but no more than a mixed drink would, I'm pretty sure.
