Yeah. To be fair it's hard to actually find the information and understand the payment table and all the possible combinations, and I don't tell people when they visit "hey go easy on my snack food I only bought one treat for myself this fortnight!" because that's stingy and rude.

The media like to make it seem like everyone is taking advantage of the system and we're all no-good dirty crims who leech off decent hard-working people. Like the pension is some grand prize and you'd be set for life. I can understand why people can be misled. There are almost no reports on what it's actually like to live on it.

Yeah, we're all frugal for survival. I mend my own clothes and I really shop around and try to find what I need for the least cash possible, and that's impossible at the moment. Delivery cost went up. There's no generic brands in stock because fuckers are hoarding.

It does feel like we're considered a fraction of the worth of other people, doesn't it? I was the same, I worked until I absolutely couldn't, I volunteered, even when I really needed the help I wouldn't take anything from the food bank or any places I volunteered at even though I was the poor. Lol.

For other people, there's an end in sight. It might not be a great time, but there are opportunities for improvement ahead. For us there's just this. Literally for me, because my immune system is weak and I'm strongly discouraged from unnecessary contact with people always.

I suppose it's too much to hope for that this might stir empathy in enough people for things to improve for us in any way.

Oh god, so much this. I could just about copy-paste the entire thing. I really think people wish we would just die tidily and get out of the way. What they don't realise is that the attitudes they're condoning now will be the attitudes that come back to bite them on the bum when their own turn, inevitably, comes.

Which won't help us, though. At least we've got some of the skills necessary to get through this crisis at least.
