(Anonymous) 2020-04-18 11:05 am (UTC)(link)I'm able enough that I can work part time. It's really hard for me, but I do it because I feel like I have to at least try. So this whole lock-down has honestly been...a relief? That's super fucked up, and of course I'd wish this all away in a heartbeat if I could, for everyone's sake, but yeah, not feeling the need to keep up with life has been a real relief to me.
Also, I just did the math and my disability check is 58% of the amount Canadians are receiving to replace our lost incomes.
And like...I'm not even that mad about my disability amount. It's gone up like $275 in the last five years, which has me feeling pretty grateful tbh (it was hideously low before, because our conservative government didn't raise it for like fifteen years). But all the same, it's pretty telling that when the government has to cover the non-disabled people's living expenses they figure a reasonable living wage is almost double what they give us to live on.
