If I had to guess, I’d say that the reason is that the kind of person who makes all these criticisms only watches queer shows in the first place. But however it happens, it’s pretty ridiculous that the most inclusive stuff always gets the most flack from people who supposedly want inclusive stuff.

Yup. And I think they know established creators won't listen to their demands and will do what they want, but new, fandom related creators are more "approachable" and they think they can bully them into submission. So their standards for representation for each are messed up and turned backwards: to the queer creators actually providing queer content, instead of to the mainstream ones that'll throw us a bone from time to time, and rarely with lead characters.
