107. I, on the other hand, look down on slashers who are against gay marriage. It makes their fic/art/fangirling look like nothing more than objectification and exploitation. I tend to look down on anyone who opposes gay rights, actually, but I see slashers who take that stance as blatant hypocrites.

(I'm generally pretty easygoing about differences in beliefs and politics, but not in this case. Zealous? YES)

THIS, exactly.

And besides, if there are slash fangirls who support gay marriage just because of slash? Then at least they're supporting equal rights. Besides, I think that the number of these fangirls is extremely small, if they exist at all.

Zeal for a good cause is a good thing. Arguing circles about "how do you know it's a good cause, you shouldn't be zealous about anything" eventually gets counterproductive, anyway.

I beat myself up for a bit for looking down on yaoi-girls who are against gay marriage, thinking that I was being a hypocrit because RL =/= fantasy and we shouldn't condemn people for what the enjoy in fantasy.

Then I realized that I just look down on people who are against gay marriage period, regardless of what they ship.

I felt so much better.
