Maybe it's because I'm used to ffcrapnet, where writers try to crunch where they can so they can write the summary they want, so as long as it said something to the effect of "Chloe/Lana [Gen]" I just took it to mean Chloe and Lana were the characters featured, not automatically think they're having sex or experiencing some part of their romantic relationship in the fic. But then, I don't even look at Sasuke/Naruto to mean Sasuke's "on top." It's a mark on your keyboard, people.
Then again, there probably are rule breakers that ARE posting romance fics, and for that I agree. Ugh.

167 Fics that are done bad on purpose are actually THE BEST FICS EVER TO READ. Some of them are in my top faves. And your secret is awesome to look at.
