"I'm starting to think my biggest problem with [Livejournal/Fandom Secrets] isn't the character bashing, the shallowness, the willful misinterpretations, the constant justifications and rationalizations for your favorite show; it's the amount of respect [Doctor Who/Heroes/Code Geass/What-the-fuck-ever] gets there". (All changes mine).

Or, to be less deliberately obtuse, Livejournal isn't the Borg. Fandom Secrets isn't, either. Not even The Other Wiki is 100% agreed on everything. So why is TV Tropes treated like it is?

Not everyone there is shallow, or into character bashing, or absolutely certain that their favorite show is "OMG FLAWLESS". Beneath it all, we're pretty much the same as any other internet community. The only difference is the fact that anyone with a favorite show and five minutes of free time can change a page at will.

I didn't say anything about all Tropers. Just that certain aspects of the site, including how seriously a large chunk of Tropers take a show I can't stand, bug the crap out of me.

I could make the same claim about LJ fandom. Pointing out aspects of an internet community that annoy me isn't the same as claiming everyone there sucks.
