107. o.O Waitwaitwait, so I can't have convictions and be a slash fan? If I write about the horrors of child abuse, I'm not allowed to advocate for better protection for children too? OH, and if I have a long-standing series that deals with poverty, I can't be for affordable housing.
(deep breath) Did you ever think that maybe slash is what opened their eyes to the injustice? That's what happened to me, at least. I didn't think about it, didn't care to research it (and was was closeted on my own bisexuality, I admit), so of course I was against OMG TEH GHEYS because everyone else was. Then I got into slash and actually started thinking about people as people. It's hard to write and read about something without knowing what you're talking about. Slash got me thinking, exactly like reading is supposed to do.
So take a deep breath, pull the stick out, and try putting a little thought into your opinions before you splash them all over the internet, mmkay?

I'm sorry for what you went through. REALLY. I know you won't believe me though, because I'm going to say exactly what you're no doubt expecting. Fantasy =/= reality. Some survivors of child sexual abuse write it as therapy. Some write it as horror. Some write it for fantasy. People write all sorts of things. They glorify all sorts of things in fiction. Murder, rape, bestiality, death—and yes, even pedophilia. (Which, by the way, isn't under 15. A surprising number of people have hit puberty by 15, which makes it still illegal, but not pedophilia.) No one is pretending to say that what we right is acceptable or even moral. Just like Anne Rice would never say that the various murders her characters committed were ethical. Just like George Orwell didn't advocate for big brother. Hell, just like William Shakespeare almost certainly didn't encourage young women to run off and marry against their father's wishes.
Fantasy. Fan. Ta. See. Get the picture?
136. I generally would too, unless they make a point of saying "I have no life and a plan". It's possible to write 7,000 words a day (professionals do it), but it'd be hard for even the most prolific of writers.
