Why does every companion have to be special and unique? I don't always want that? Honestly it got old that every companion was the only one in all the universe at something for everyone else in New Who. It is refreshing to me to have ordinary people who are ordinary friends of the Doctor just hanging out and travelling around in the Tardis having adventures together.

I didn't say anything about being special or unique in the whole universe--just unique as ordinary PEOPLE, which most/all of the companions are. If I were to try writing fic of this group, I don't know where I'd start for characterization beyond "Ryan has problems with physical challenges and Graham is grandfatherly". I need more than that to define who a character is, even if they are just ordinary.
