Nah, the fact that Anakin killed "not just the men, but the women and the children" wasn't meant to be forgiven. It was definitely one of many big steps into Sithdom for him.

Yes, it was a step. But it wasn't meant to be seen as a full-on dark side step. We were still supposed to see him as completely heroic. It was supposed to be him dipping his toe in the water. Whereas, to me murdering that many people is pretty damn dark and a very big step at least.

Nayrt, I always felt it was the first step of his point of no return. If I recall correctly, they even played part of Vader's theme in the background.
