Just curious: have you actually watched this show? Obviously there was a lot of editing but I really don't see how they could have faked anything since they don't see each other until the final episode. And if they faked their reactions when they first met, well...they both deserve an oscar.

ayrt

You're missing the point. Reality TV is literally designed and scripted, not to mention edited, to get the most outlandish, dramatic, heart wrenching guttwister, they can fashion out of their contestant/applicants. That's the point of signing a non-disclosure agreement before filming.
The sound effects are not summoned down from the heavens, the cuts and reactions often do not take place in the same sequence, let alone the situation they apply said exclamatory faces to. In the face to face interviews they are deliberately asked questions to forward whatever drama the series runner has decided the episode needed. They'll be taken out of context, asked to talk about their fellow cast and go into detail about it, only for the most juiciest of conversation to be used as a narrative. And because these are generally the people who are just that desperate for their 15mins of fame, will adjust their behaviour/conversation because that's how you get ratings.

This is classic RTV 101. Do not believe everything you see on TV. It surprises me every time when I see people falling for the same schtick over and over again.
