Witcher for Nintendo Switch yes or no?
(Anonymous) 2020-04-26 06:20 am (UTC)(link)Sadly, theres no demo available and I dont wanna dump 50-60€ on a game that sucks visually.
Some folks even wrote that buying a play station for it is more worth it.
But I dont want to buy a new console just for one game. (My usual "gaming" is pokemon, Animal Crossing and phone mobile games)
Any insight?
Re: Witcher for Nintendo Switch yes or no?
(Anonymous) 2020-04-26 08:33 am (UTC)(link)It's like skyrim for the even bigger neckbeard, to say the least.
I own all games on PC, and have barely made a dent into the first game and not for lack of trying. My sister is currently playing the third, but the only good thing she has to say about it is that Gwent is occasionally fun. (a fictional card game you can challenge people for money)
I do not own a Switch, but Witcher has a /very/ specific gaming style. It's borderline annoying as there are three styles, (fast, power, group) all of which significantly changes the damage/ability to attack certain foes, types of weapons, (witcher sword/silver sword, metal sword, and offhand weapon) all with the different hit factors that change via opponent, then there's magic, drains your stamina gauge, ect. and in order to connect multiple attacks you must trigger the action button at exactly the right time or else you miss. So depending on the of the switch quickchanges and simple battles may be very gruelling to get through, and if the game is known for lagging on Switch, this could be a huge problem
Also you have a backpack with a grid type storage style, aka, big things can take up most of your inventory and you will not be able to collect anything new once the space is gone, you can drop off certain items in a personal chest in specific locations.
I'd recommend it on PC since you can add mods that can fit some of the sexism in the game, (sorta) but it runs a very high mandate so depending on your computer you might not even be able to play it, let alone with whatever mod you might like since often times you need to run graphics on ultra. There are websites that measure you coms ability to play any chosen PC game, but I can't remember it offhand unfortunately.
Honestly, I wouldn't. If people are saying there are connectivity issues, the lagging, then it is most likely not optimized for the console/platform you're trying to lay it on. Some games simply do not transfer well to different stations simply because the games workings do not play well with the device attempting to translate them, y'know?
Besides that price is hella high for a game that might not even work in sync with your device. Even as a new transfer, it is still an older game. I imagine most of the price is due to the TV show, but I wouldn't do it if I were you.
SA- sorry, some corrections to my mess of a post.
(Anonymous) 2020-04-26 08:53 am (UTC)(link)*By 'series is a huge shitshow' I meant the game series, I haven't watched the show.
*I own all 'the witcher' games on PC
*borderline annoying, as there are three 'fighting' styles,
Basically, some games should not be played on certain platforms, and based on what you've said in your post, (the lagging is very concerning, imo) the Switch is probably not compatible with the way Witcher 3 is designed. I wouldn't buy it, personally. That being said this is only going off of what you've said. I recommend you searching for compatibility between your device and this game before you make your final decision.

(Anonymous) 2020-04-26 09:23 am (UTC)(link)I only own a laptop which is several years old at this point and i doubt any sort of graphic heavy game would even load on it. so pc game is definitely a no for me. (I mostly use it for writing/budgeting)
Sounds like the transfer between the consoles didnt do it any favors. A pity bc i wanted to try it. Also sadly none of my friends play it so i cant go and say "hey lemme have a go"

(Anonymous) 2020-04-26 09:45 am (UTC)(link)Oh, no problem at all! I found the site that rates how well your PC might run your game, so hopefully you might be in luck as far as consoles go!

You can find required information in the System Information option when opening up My Computer on Windows. Laptops tend to come with a sticker that details all internal information, it's usually located beside the keyboard. Also, this might help:

I totally get you, it's a great game to run around in, but honestly the best thing to do it wait. Games get so cheap after a few years (though unfortunately Witcher is rare to go on sale, but at least it isn't GTA level of stalemate;;) It sucks, but sometimes a 'revamped' version pops up from time to time and you'll get to play the game for real! <3
