That has been the opposite of my experience. The fandom may have been wanky af, but I read more excellent fanfic for Johnlock than for all my other ships combined.

I think there was a significant quality downturn three or four years ago, because the majority of the talented writers had left for other fandoms by that point. So if you're looking for new content that's really strongly written, I can see your disappointment.

Otherwise, I totally disagree, Sherlock fanfic is awesome.
