absolutely. i've thankfully gotten to the point in my life where my immediate reaction is just "well thank god it's just fanfic and i can do whatever i want" and i don't lie awake thinking about it at night. BUT i say that fully acknowledging that when i was even just a bit younger than now, it really bugged me and affected me and i'd obsess over any negative opinion over something i enjoyed in fandom. when you're just trying to have a good fuckin time it can feel crummy to hear people bash it so easily! over time tho i did realize just how easy it is for people to say rude shit on the internet tho and not take it as seriously anymore. and frankly if they take it farther than the one off dismissals then it's on them for spending their energy on that negativity while i'm in my own lil corner just chillin~
