Kind of like the way he ran out on them the minute he had the code to do so and knew he could get back to the person one person in the universe he really cares about.

But I'm happy to hear you're on board with exact emotional and sexual equivalence in Jack's feelings toward G and I.

You mean how he went to help save the world while leaving them in what he expected to be a safe environment? And then returning, despite having the chance to leave for good with 'the one person in the universe he really cares about'? (Which I can't believe. It's Jack. He doesn't focus on one person to the point of excluding all other possibilities. Not even the Doctor.) Just like he returned the time before that, and the time before that...

And exact emotional equivalence, yes. Jack loves his people each as much as the other. And I don't deny he's interested in Gwen sexually - he's Jack, he's interested in everything sexually. But he still chooses to be with Ianto and encourage her to be with Rhys. He's grown up enough to control himself for everyone's sakes. That doesn't mean he cares about either of them more than the other, which seems to be the main bone of contention between Jack/Ianto and Jack/Gwen shippers. It just means he won't ever make a move to split up Gwen and Rhys, and he'll do his best to keep Ianto happy too. Everybody wins. At least in the show. Certain fans may kick up a fuss.

My bottom line for believing in shipper sanity is the "exact equivalence" barometer, so we're good.
