For the third, I'd love to see proof of your oh so gorgeous icons that cause you to have such a better-than-everyone attitude (that secret is way too gray for me and a bit awkwardly aligned for me to think it's all that pretty, by the way) -- and fourthly, you're an ass.

ALSO I COULD HAVE MADE THIS SECRET except it didn't just open me up more to tolerance and love -- one of my friends introducing me to shounen-ai fic of, of all things, Gravitation and The Legend of Zelda (no, not in the same fic, two different ones, though that would've been hilarious XD), made me really realize it was even an option. I hadn't ever really thought about it before, at all. And now I ship everything under the sun, and have come to terms with the fact that, when I find someone to spend my life is, she's going to be another girl. And that it will be just fantastic. ♥

134. ... Why? The point of the series is that he swiftly becomes an evil psychotic, but that it's tragic that a boy who was so promising and "normal" at the start of things fell so far. He was absolutely horrific, but in the end, the final victim of Light's insanity and ego was Light himself. He's a creepily interesting character to me.

Now, if I met him IRL, I'd totally drop him off a building, but I digress. :|

um i'm sorry what? you've never hated a pairing before? ever?

and you say "made a pact" like we had some kind of special club and community on lj and devart and all these places with strict membership policies and stuff and dedicated time to actively hating a pairing. it wasn't a "pact," it was just a mutual agreement that we all hated the pairing and could make fun of it together. we all had our own pairings that we shipped, and some of us didn't agree with others on said ships, but we all agreed that we just didn't like that one pairing. is that really such a terrible thing? a common dislike?

Okay, I read the secret wrong and reacted to it too harshly, and I'm sorry for that. Often when I see the HATE ON A PAIRING crowd they don't actually limit it to hating on the pairing itself, but mocking and looking down on anyone who does like the pairing, so I responded to the secret as if you were saying you were doing that. Which totally wasn't fair. I've mocked characters, pairings, books, movies, etc just for fun with friends, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't turn into the bitter, hateful thing that seems to explode every so often in fandom. The misunderstand was my bad, and I'm sorry I was bitchy about it.

I don't like slash for exactly that reason. I just don't understand the appeal. I prefer het because I at least know what one side of it feels like-- if both the people happen to have penises, I can't really see eye-to-eye with either of them. Call it immature, but whatever... *shrug*

Ah, I think we might just be miscommunicating here! We're reading the secret two different ways, and I hope they mean hate the way you think they do, honestly -- I just usually think of people saying they hate slash meaning that they actually HATE it. If it's not your bag, that's cool -- if it doesn't interest you and you don't like it, you don't HAVE TO like it. (I do love me some het! But I gravitate toward slash and femslash more because of my sexuality, and toward threesomes/moresomes because of my ideals, I think.) However, the idea of someone outright hating slash just because both people involved are male is seriously offputting to me.

115. Ugh, I KNOW! I mean, it's one thing when people say "Oh, I don't like that pairing because it just doesn't work", but when the standard is "I'll ship the most ridiculous things, as LONG AS IT'S STRAIGHT!"....then the intentions are a bit more obviouis. I know someone like that, who thinks gender is the only thing that matters for pairings.

Yeah, it's just... I can even understand the people who go "I'm not into slash (or femslash, or het) because it just doesn't interest me/doesn't do anything for me!" or that the more rabid fans are offputting for them. Because that makes sense! Not being able to see a pairing working makes sense. But the I HATE ALL SHIPS IF THEY'RE NOT HET B| thing is really, really freaking weird for me, and tbh it does hint of homophobia, at least on some level (like thinking it's "yucky" or something).

They are kind of just jerks. I have a few fandoms that I am very clearly into and I make references to often, and they're usually pretty insensitive and call me a stupid fangirl. I think they're just bitter because they're passionless and boring.

That sounds really freaking annoying. D: I don't know how I'd deal with someone who didn't have any strong interests. I mean, my dad has TV shows he likes and my mom has favorite books and magazines and my grandmother watches soaps... I thought everyone had some sort of interest? D: I can't believe they mock you for liking stuff, that really sucks.
