Re: How is everyone today?

Not great. I've got an online counselling session coming up this morning. I don't really know what to say. My problems seem so trivial - but the emotional neglect went on for years and chipped away at my self-confidence so, so much. And meanwhile, people are dying worldwide. :(

Just because you're not dying doesn't mean your emotional issues are 'trivial'. It's okay to take care of yourself, OP, and your emotional neglect is an important thing to address. You deserve to be heard.

^THIS. I hate this whole "People were molested, therefore the pain you're experiencing or had experienced means nothing." Everybody has problems, and everybody deserves to be listened to. It's not a competition to be King Of Pain. (Cue the Police song.)

Thank-you... Theoretically I know all this and it's what I'd say to someone else! Putting it into practice is another matter. There's an ox standing on my tongue, as some Greek playwright or other put it. Gonna try writing and emailing it to the counsellor instead.

Thank-you... I didn't too too well during the session, but we've fixed up that next time I'll write down what I can't say and send it ahead of time. Baby steps.

Even baby steps move you forward. Good on you.

Nah. Don't downplay your own pain or problems just because someone else might have it worse. It doesn't make your pain any less, that's not how things work. Your problems are not trivial to you. You deserve to get the help you need.

Thank-you - it's true that one person's distress doesn't mean that another person's doesn't matter. I'll keep telling myself that.

Pain is relative... not a contest. As long as you're not going around claiming your issues dwarf everyone else's, you're good.

Aha no, I never would. Thank-you for the reassurance.
