It's a funny problem in shonen where they give us these pure dumbass characters who have no interest in sex or romance, and then they timeskip and these dudes somehow have 2.5 kids?

In a bit of fairness to this series, the characters have been engaged since they were like ten (albeit by a family arrangement) and are more or less accepting of it, so them being married with kids eventually is a foregone conclusion.

I feel like in most cases it's less that they have no interest in sex or romance and more that they have much more pressing things to be concerned about at the time.

Pressing concern: one of you may die, family needs an heir in case that happens and we need to try again in 500 years, you seem to get along fine, go reproduce so that your personal death is less of a concern.

It depends on the series, but they do give a very specific reason why in this one.
