OP

The second finale ended up with them both having kids as single parents (Grace got pregnant from a fling and decided to raise the baby on her own, and actually went into labor in the last episode; Will had gotten a surrogate after a broken engagement with a guy who decided he didn't want kids, and she hadn't had the baby yet in the finale but would soon) and leaving the city to buy a house in a small town and raise the kids there. In the finale Will's ex who didn't want kids popped back up (he had moved to London for work when they broke up, and had just gotten back to the US) and they decided to give things another shot. There was nothing about him changing his mind about kids (and Will's was going to be born any day) so it was kind of weird to me and I don't know how long that relationship would've lasted.

There are a lot more details, but that's the short(ish) version. So it wasn't perfect, but I thought it was better than the first one. Even though they did have kids, it didn't have the whole, like...traditional white picket fence 'everybody gets married and has kids and lives happily ever' vibe. Who knows what would've happened with Will and his ex and how that would've worked with Will being a parent and the guy not wanting kids, but Grace was single, which I appreciated, because kids or not, marriage is not for everyone. I'm also glad they hadn't quit speaking to each for 20 years like in the first one.
