My problem was that I made the assumption (stupid of me, I know!) that Ruth was the Doctor from an alternate universe, and so I got really invested in the idea of our universe's Gallifrey having some dealings so shady with alternate!Gallifrey that the Master decided to blow it up again. And then Chibnell made it way less interesting than the thing I had built up in my head 😆

I remember a theory that the Doctor and the Master were cloned to fight in the Time War or something, which was also more interesting.
